Why Proper Sizing Matters
When a harness or collar fits correctly, it reduces strain on your dog’s body, preventing discomfort and allowing for natural movement. Our ComfortFlex Sport Harness and Limited Slip Collar are designed to support your dog’s active lifestyle by protecting sensitive areas like the neck and underarms. A few quick measurements ensure your dog gets the full benefit.
How to Measure for the ComfortFlex Sport Harness
Transcript: Harness Sizing
To measure for a ComfortFlex Sport Harness, you will need a tailor’s tape, a paper tape, or even a piece of string that you can measure with a ruler once you have found your dog’s girth measurement. To begin, have your dog stand on all four feet. Then let’s find a point one to two inches behind your dog’s front leg. Now, use your tape measure to go up and over your dog’s back, returning to the point you started. We don’t want the tape to be too tight, so insert a couple of fingers between the tape and your dog’s body. The resulting number where your tape meets is your dog’s girth measurement. Compare the resulting number to our sizing chart to determine the best size harness for your dog. If the measurement happens to fall into two size ranges, we recommend choosing the smaller of the two sizes to ensure a more accurate fit. Please contact us if you have any questions.
The ComfortFlex Sport Harness is designed with simplicity and security in mind, but it all starts with the right size.
-
Measure the Chest Girth
Using a soft measuring tape, wrap it around the widest part of your dog’s chest, just behind the front legs. Keep the tape snug, not tight—insert two fingers between the tape and your dog. -
Check the ComfortFlex Harness Size Chart
Select the size that matches your girth measurement:- Petite (P): 12.5"–15.5"
- XXS: 15.5"–18.5"
- XS: 18"–20.5"
- S: 20.5"–23.5"
- S/M: 21.5"–25"
- M: 24"–28"
- M/L: 27.5"–32"
- L: 28.5"–33.5"
- XL: 32"–36"
- XXL: 37.5"–42"
If your girth falls between two sizes, choose the smaller of the two for the most accurate fit. Each size allows a full range of motion while keeping pressure off the neck and protecting the underarms from irritation.
Measuring for the ComfortFlex Limited Slip Collar
Transcript: Collar Sizing (Limited Slip)
To measure for a ComfortFlex Limited Slip Collar, you will need a tailor’s tape, a paper tape, or even a piece of string that you can measure with a ruler once you have found your dog’s neck circumference. For a standard dog collar, you would measure around the base of the neck. Instead, for any limited slip collar, you will want to measure the circumference of the dog’s neck from just behind the dog’s ears, down under the chin, and back up to the starting point. Compare the resulting number to our sizing chart to determine the best size collar for your dog. This measurement ensures that the collar will tighten just to the point that the dog’s head cannot slip out of the collar should they pull away from you. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Our Limited Slip Collar slips on comfortably and tightens just enough to help prevent backing out without choking.

Measure for a Limited Slip
With a tailor’s tape (or string + ruler), measure a loop that goes from just behind the ears, down under the chin, and back to the starting point. This over-the-head circumference is the correct measurement for a limited slip style. (This differs from a standard collar, which uses the base-of-neck measurement.) -
Choose Your Collar Size
- Small (S): 7"–14"
- Medium (M): 10"–20"
- Large (L): 14"–28"
- Extra Large (XL): 17"–34"
The collar is lightly padded and reflective for added comfort and low-light safety.
Fit Tips: How to Test the Fit
- Harness: You should be able to slip two fingers between the harness and your dog’s body anywhere. It should be snug, not restrictive, and shouldn’t shift or ride up.
- Collar (Limited Slip): It should slip over the head easily and, when tension is applied, tighten only to the point that the dog’s head cannot slip out—never so tight that it causes discomfort.

FAQs on Sizing
-
What if my dog’s girth measurement falls between two harness sizes?
Choose the smaller size for the most accurate fit. -
Can I use the same measurement for both harness and collar sizing?
No. The harness uses chest girth. The Limited Slip Collar uses an over-the-head loop measurement (behind ears → under chin → back up). -
Will the harness restrict my dog’s movement?
No. ComfortFlex harnesses are designed for active dogs, providing a full range of motion while keeping pressure off the neck.
